MATERRUP blocks are currently being implemented on the construction site of this exemplary and highly demanding environmental project.
Spearheaded by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and AXA Investment Managers and designed by renowned architects Herzog & de Meuron, Triangle will become a new Parisian destination that combines accessibility at every hour and every level:
- 15,000 m² of services: local shops, daycare center, health center, cultural center, coworking and comeeting spaces, cafes, and restaurants
- 70,000 m² of offices opening onto 3,500 m² of outdoor spaces
- A 128-room hotel with a public restaurant on the 13th floor
- A panoramic belvedere open to everyone to rediscover Paris from above
With energy consumption 3.3 times lower than the existing tertiary sector and 40% ahead of projected thresholds of the 2050 tertiary decree, Triangle demonstrates that height is compatible with environmental excellence, both in its construction, operation, and in decarbonizing the mobility of its future occupants. The building aims for the highest levels of certifications (HQE Exceptionnel and BREEAM Outstanding).
By replacing conventional hollow blocks with MATERRUP blocks from the 1st floor of the project, without changing the conventional mortar, an immediate 44% CO2 reduction is achieved, equivalent to nearly 37 tons of CO2. Using MATERRUP also contributes to resource preservation:
⚡ Over 145,000 MJ saved through our low-energy processes
⛽ Over 4,000 liters of fossil fuels saved
🪨 Over 50 tons of limestone not extracted from mountains and soils
For the project management, nothing changes:
• Same performance
• Same tools
• Same installation methods
• Same teams
🗨️Mourad Akl, General Manager of the Triangle project, URW : « The use of Materrup blocks aligns perfectly with all the efforts already made with the teams to optimize resource use, such as the use of 62% recycled aluminum in facades, 90% recycled steel, and up to 40% reused false floors. We are delighted to rely on actors like Materrup to concretize a necessary collective effort towards decarbonizing construction. »
🗨️ Koen De Rooy, Project Director, BESIX : "This collaboration reflects our commitment to driving the transition towards a more environmentally respectful construction sector. From design to execution, we support our clients in achieving their sustainability goals and decarbonizing their projects. The use of low-carbon Materrup blocks on Triangle aligns precisely with this approach.»
🗨️ Mohammed OUBAHAMMOU, Project Director, BFM Construction : «Carbon transition is becoming a reality with these low-carbon circular blocks. Nothing changes on our site, yet everything is so different! Waste reuse, carbon reduction, and innovation. We are proud to be among the first to implement these blocks. »
🗨️ Mathieu NEUVILLE, CEO, MATERRUP : « Less carbon in construction. Doing more with less. Partnering with real estate players like Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and AXA Investment Managers on a project like TriangleParis and a contractor like BESIX allows us to immediately multiply the carbon leverage to address the environmental challenges of our industry. It's also an immediate response to regulations and SCOPE3 challenges for companies »
🗨️ Julie NEUVILLE, Chairwoman, MATERRUP : « MATERRUP is very proud to participate in the construction of TriangleParis, a building that is demanding both technically and architecturally. We are particularly grateful for the trust that TriangleParis places in us by substituting conventional blocks with ours. »
