✽  Cold-activated Clay Cement CCC®

A patented and truly disruptive technology platform

All Materrup cements integrate the patented CCC® technology (Cold-Activated Clay Cement) developed by Materrup, an industrial innovation designed to durably transform the construction industry.

A process with no kiln, no calcination, no emissions.

CCC® technology is based on a proprietary mechano-chemical cold activation process for clay. Unlike traditional cement processes or calcined clay technologies, this process operates without firing, without calcination and without thermal flash.

Waste valorisation and resource preservation

This approach valorises raw, local clays — often considered waste — by transforming them into high-performing, reliable cements suited for structural concrete applications.

Raw material flexibility: kaolinitic, illitic, muscovitic and mixed clay waste — with no minimum or maximum composition limit.

Protected by more than 100 international patents

Protected by more than 100 international patents, CCC® technology represents a stable and proven industrial alternative to conventional cements. It is already industrialised and validated across more than 500 construction projects, demonstrating its robustness, reproducibility and reliability under real conditions.

Cold mechano-chemical activation
a unique, lean and proven process

reinvents cement and clay activation by eliminating thermal treatment. CCC® technology activates clay at ambient temperature through a mechano-chemical process, without calcination. Clay is made reactive by combining grinding (fine and controlled mechano-chemical activation) with the action of an organic agent to form a hybrid organo-mineral material.

Mechanical activation places non-calcined clay minerals within the broad field of "natural pozzolanic materials" activated by physical means: controlled grinding transfers energy to the material, promotes delamination of layered structures and reduces particle size, induces structural disorder and lattice defects — thereby increasing the effective reactive surface area. In an alkaline environment, these transformations facilitate the dissolution of Si and Al species, contributing to the pozzolanic reaction.

The introduction of an organic agent acts at particle interfaces to enhance surface reactivity and promote the formation of mineral–organic–mineral complexes.

This mechano-organic coupling maximises activation efficiency within an optimised processing window and confers on the clay a reactivity equivalent to calcined clay — without any thermal step. .
