[Moliets-et-Maa] In the face of climate disruption, some elected officials are not waiting. They are taking action.

Charles Neuville, CFO Materrup : " In #Moliets-et-Maa, as in many local communities across France, local elected representatives are taking concrete action to combine land use planning, quality of life, and the fight against climate change.

In this remarkable natural site, they have embraced the vision of a “nature-oriented” resort — more sustainable, gentler, and more resilient:

- Soft mobility solutions

- Soil de-sealing

- Use of local plant species

- Large-scale renaturation

- Reversible, intergenerational public spaces

This ambition comes with a commitment to environmental consistency down to the smallest details, including the choice of materials:

4,500 m² of roads and pedestrian paths using low-carbon MATERRUP concrete, deactivated and bush-hammered, supplied by DUHALDE BTP

- 270 m² of permeable grass-grid parking spaces and 800 linear meters of curbs made with Materrup concrete

- Nearly 1 km of bike path in compacted road concrete by UNELO éco-voiries

These are circular, local, and low-carbon solutions, chosen to significantly reduce the project’s environmental footprint.

This type of initiative is especially meaningful in a context where coastal erosion now affects the entire French coastline — from #Hendaye to #Bray-Dunes, and far beyond.

This phenomenon is not theoretical. It is visible, measurable, and directly linked to climate change. And as we know, this change is fueled by high-emission sectors, with the cement industry being one of the main contributors.

Acting on concrete means tackling the root of the problem.

What’s remarkable here is the clear and deliberate commitment of the municipality and its elected officials:

They don’t just talk — they make concrete decisions, sometimes against the grain, but always future-focused.

On the ground, I see more and more local leaders stepping up with clarity and courage on environmental issues.

Independent in their thinking, visionary in their decisions, they are making bold choices to sustainably transform their territories.

They remind us that ecology is carried out daily, in real terms, by committed individuals.

It is these people — often ahead of their time — who prove that ecology transcends political lines, rooted in local action and driven by a deep sense of the common good.

Bravo to Mayor Aline MARCHAND, First Deputy Patrick Laborde, and all the local officials and municipal teams of Moliets who act with consistency, integrity, and responsibility.

These decisions — sometimes low-profile, but always foundational — are what shape the sustainable regions of tomorrow.
