Borda Occitanie,
MCC1® Cement plant
Vicat x MATERRUP
Vicat and Materrup, two French industrial players, join forces to accelerate the decarbonization of the construction sector
This alliance materializes the shared commitment of two French industrial actors, Vicat and Materrup, to engage in the reindustrialization of territories and promote French technological and industrial expertise as a lever for ecological transition.
A few months after the creation of their joint venture "Borda Occitanie," the Vicat Group and Materrup demonstrate their commitment to the reindustrialization of territories and the promotion of French technological and industrial expertise as a lever for ecological transition.
Borda Occitanie, the first common production unit between the Vicat Group and MATERRUP, and the second MATERRUP plant, will be built in Haute-Garonne (31), in Carbonne, at the heart of the Occitanie Region. This first low-carbon cement production unit will have an annual production capacity of 60,000 tons of MCC1® Occitanie cement.
The Carbonne production unit will be located on the Granulats Vicat quarry site, which will supply clay directly from the in-situ deposit. Vicat Concrete will market a range of very low-carbon ready-mix concretes formulated from this MCC1® Occitanie cement.
The Vicat Group and Materrup already aim to build four additional low-carbon MCC1® cement production units nationwide to provide a concrete and immediate response to the decarbonization challenges of the construction sector.

MCC1®: a low-carbon innovation at the heart of this alliance's strategy.
Sharing common interests and commitments for a more responsible industry, Vicat and Materrup strengthen their collaboration with the goal of co-industrializing MCC1® cement.
Leveraging its historical expertise, Vicat has qualified and assessed Materrup's innovation in its Research Center and on experimental construction sites to evaluate its relevance and technological robustness.
This historic agreement aims to accelerate the decarbonization of the cement industry and marks the establishment of a joint venture. The creation of this new entity enables the rapid industrialization and joint commercialization of a cement composed of raw clay MCC1®, based on CCC® technology. Implemented according to industry best practices, it cuts CO2 emissions in half without compromising the performance or quality of the concrete.
