A Low-Carbon Sports Complex Comes to Life in Mimizan

On the Plaine des Sports du Moulin Neuf, a local ambition is becoming a model project: a sports complex designed to endure, to bring people together… and to protect the planet. 🌍

This isn’t just a building rising from the ground—it’s a new way of building, driven by committed stakeholders.

🔹 A Material at the Heart of Change:

The walls of the future complex are made using MATERRUP hollow blocks, low-carbon cement blocks—the lowest-carbon cinder blocks on the market:

👉 9.41 kg CO₂-eq/m², which is 43% less than a conventional block.

A concrete solution to reduce Scope 3 emissions, anticipating the RE2020 targets and even aiming for the 2031 thresholds.

➡️ Our blocks aren’t just low-carbon—they’re also high-performing. Their equivalent performance to conventional blocks means they meet the standards of DTU 20.1 and DTU 20.3, the technical references for hollow block masonry.

🧾 Environmental and Health Product Declarations (FDES) are also available for this application, ensuring full environmental transparency.

🔥  Regarding fire safety, our blocks meet the requirements for public-access buildings: REI = 120 min and RE = 360 min.

🔹 A Project Backed by Committed Partners:

Thanks to GROUPE BERNADET, our implementation partner, for carrying out the work on site.

👏 And a big thank-you to Etchegintza Matériaux, our prefabrication partner, who produces the blocks using our MCC1® cement.

Together, we’re proving that performance and responsibility go hand in hand! 👷‍♂💡

🔹 A Human-Centered Project:

A multi-sport canopy, indoor sports hall with 250-seat bleachers, dojo, changing rooms… This future facility will meet the needs of students, associations, and seniors, all within a sport-health and collective well-being approach.

🔹 A Strong Environmental Commitment :

✅ Goal: E3/C1

✅ Bio-based materials > 18 kg/m²

✅ Carbon footprint < 400 kg CO₂/m²

📅  Scheduled delivery: End of 2025 — and we can’t wait to show you the final result!

👏 Thanks to all the teams working on-site, architects Julien Delmas and Loïc Loisel, the OTCE Group, and the Municipality of Mimizan for their long-term vision.

This project is a model for what responsible, local construction can be. Could it inspire other regions?

💬 What materials or practices do you prioritize to build beyond the standards? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
