[Case Study] MATERRUP Ciments bas carbone olutions to Structure City Climate Plans: The Example of Anglet
Cities today must face the consequences of climate change, including combating coastal erosion, halting soil artificialization, preventing floods, and adapting their infrastructure to ensure liveable cities in the future.
Thanks to its Nature and Landscape Master Plan, which sets transversal guidelines for all projects, the City of Anglet, led by Mayor Claude Olive, has taken an ambitious and concrete approach to address these risks. This includes initiatives like redesigning schoolyards and de-paving parking lots.
➡️ A Concrete Example!
The Esplanade des Gascons and the Chambre d’Amour Renaturation Project illustrate this effort, notably featuring the use of Materrup cement and concrete :
💬 "The expected impact on temperature reduction is -0.5°C. However, creating a cool island can result in a drop of up to 20°C."
💦 Nature + Materrup’s High-Albedo Solutions = Cooling Combo!
This major project is just one example of MATERRUP Ciments bas carbone solutions supporting cities in their Climate Plans with:
✅Low-carbon materials
✅ Local and circular solutions
✅Soil de-sealing materials: permeable slabs, draining pavers, and draining concrete
✅High-albedo light-colored materials to combat urban heat islands
✅ Simple and cost-effective solutions easily implemented in daily construction without changing practices
🙏 Thank you to @Claude olive, lthe City of Anglet, and the technical teams for their trust.
🙏Thank you to Sud Ouest and Jean-Pierre Tamisier for highlighting committed and sustainable alternatives in our region.
