Mathieu Neuville, CEO of Materrup : " At MATERRUP Low-Carbon Cements, we’ve moved beyond proving that our technology works. We are now refining its performance, strengthening its robustness, and validating its scalability. Today, with the CSTB’s validation of the ETPM increment for our MCC1® cement, we have reached a new milestone. This is a rigorous, indisputable technical confirmation that reinforces our position: our solution is ready to scale.
The CSTB has just validated the updated ETPM (technical data sheet) for our cold-activated clay cement. This is not a regulatory formality — it’s an independent and rigorous technical confirmation that proves our technology meets construction standards:
Validated mechanical strengths up to C35/45, Post-peak compression behavior, Creep and total shrinkage, Steel/concrete bond strength, Cold joint performance… Everything is on par with EN 197 standard cements. Harsh exposure classes are covered. Alkali-silica reaction compatibility is confirmed. Our cement is officially recognized as equivalent to a CEM 42.5 at equal dosage..
This evaluation provides project owners, architects, contractors, and insurers with a clear, independent, and demanding assessment of MCC1®’s performance. It confirms its workability, durability, safety, and compliance with operational expectations — providing all the necessary guarantees to move forward.
Fully aligned with Eurocode 2, this is a strong signal to all those looking to make change without compromising on the fundamentals of the trade, and without adding unnecessary safety factors.
And we’ve achieved this level of performance with a fundamentally competitive cost structure. Our raw material — clay derived from quarry waste — has little to no market value. This is not just an opportunity; it’s a deliberate choice. It allows us to offer a low-carbon, robust solution that meets market standards without added cost.
This is no longer a future vision — it’s an industrial reality: reproducible, scalable, and concrete.
The path ahead is clear. It starts now, with the industrialization of cold-activated clay cement through our territorial SMCP® units, by engaging designers and field professionals (yes, low-carbon doesn’t cost more!), and by scaling a model that combines carbon sobriety, technical reliability, and economic competitiveness.
A big thank you to all the MATERRUP Low-Carbon Cements teams for their dedication, and to the CSTB for its high standards and support. This milestone is not the end — it is a solid foundation to accelerate from."
